The first thing is to open the Telegram app and tap on the hamburger menu at the top left corner of your phone display.
Once the side menu opens, now you’ll tap on “Settings” on the list.
You’ll see another menu opened, there you’ll see some options. Among these options, we need to tap on “Privacy and Security”, this is what we need.
Once it opens a menu you’ll see Privacy right under the Security section, scroll down to see the seven options for blocking spam on Telegram.
Starting with the contact, you can manually block specific contacts. If you have any of your contacts disturbing you, you tap on the “Blocked Users” under the Security section and then tap on “Block User” in the new menu and choose a contact.
For the remaining options, you can change them all to “My Contacts”. Those options include Phone Number, Last Seen & Online, Profile Photos, Forwarded Messages, Calls, Group & Channels, and Voice Messages.
How does this help me block spam? Let’s take setting “Groups” to “My Contacts”, this means no one will be able to add you to a group unless they are part of your contact. This would help you filter lots of potential spam because most groups come with spam.
Just as explained, when you set each option to “My Contact” take note of the effect they’ll have by briefing or testing. These set of options are recommended to be set as “My Contacts” namely; Groups, Calls, and Phone Number.

This will not only block the spam message but also report the user who sent it to Telegram. Telegram’s team will review the reported user and take the needed action.
Use the built-in spam filter

To activate it, navigate to Settings > Privacy and Security > Spam and Blocked Users > Enable Spam Filter. You can customize the filter to block new messages from unknown users, members of groups or channels you are not a part of, or even specific keywords.

Block the spammer
If you continue to receive spam messages from a particular user, you can block them by tapping on their profile picture, and then tapping on the “Block” option.

Just in case the in-built spam blocker doesn’t work well with you ( which will probably work) there are several third-party apps available on Google Play Store that can help you block spam on Telegram.
